Your Purpose

Where do you start if you want to discover Gods purpose for your life? How do you know if you're on the right path or if you've somehow fallen into a ditch? (I've often wondered this very thing over the years.)
There are some things you can do to get started but the real trick is to let God show you His plan, one step at at time. You take a step and God takes a step.

There is one caution however.... you can't simply make a bunch of plans and expect God to bless them when you pray. It is a lot more important for you to PRAY first, and then plan. God doesn't feel compelled to participate in anything that wasn't His idea. When you discover Gods purpose for your life, rest assured, you will know you heard from Him.

If I were to write a book on this subject it would be called, "Discover Gods Purpose for your Life in 2 Easy Steps."

Step 1: First, follow God's overall purpose for your life. If you try to move to step 2 without acknowledging God's ground rules, you'll never get to step 2. God's overall purpose for you means He wants you to establish and maintain Christian priorities.

Some of these include putting God first, confessing any unconfessed sins, forgiving anyone that's hurt you, and finding ways to be a blessing to someone else.

Step 2: After you feel like you have step 1 under control, then look at your dreams. They were all given to you by God, so take a step to see what happens. You'll know if you're on the right path because doors will open, and things will come together if it's in God's timing and balance.

On the other hand, as you discover Gods purpose for your life, you'll know very quickly if it's not His plan. You'll struggle trying to make things happen and you'll run into brick walls every time you make a move.

The bottom line is that God isn't going to move until you do. If you never step out, God never has a chance to work.

Any kind of life change can be tough, but when you use the tools God has already given you, making those changes can be easier than you think, especially because they will line up with God's plan for you.

Here are some scriptures from the amplified Bible that may help you discover Gods purpose for your life:

John 5:30: I am able to do nothing from Myself (independently, of my own accord-but only as I am taught by God and as I get His orders). Even as I hear, I judge (I decide as I am bidden to decide. As the voice comes to me, so I give a decision), and my judgement is right, (just, righteous), because I do not seek or consult my own will, (I have no desire to do what is pleasing to myself, my own aim, my ownpurpose), but only the will and pleasure of the Father who sent me.

Lamentations 3:25-26: The Lord is good to those who wait hopefully and expectantly for Him, to those who seek Him, (inquire of and for Him, and require Him by right of necessity and on the authority of God's word.)

It is good that one should hope in and wait quietly the salvation (the safety and ease) of the Lord.

Matthew 7:7-8: Keep on asking and it will be given you; keep on seeking and you will find; keep on knocking (reverently) and the door will be opened to you.

For everyone who keeps on asking receives; and he who keeps on seeking finds; and to him who keeps on knocking, the door will be opened

Here is a "Print and Pray" prayer as you discover Gods purpose for your life:

God,

You can see me struggling to find my way. I'm coming before You because You are the God of the Universe and worthy of my every praise. I want to discover Your purpose for my life. I know there's more for me out there, and I know You have an awesome plan for me. I want to commit to this process God, but I'm afraid of where it might lead. God, what if what You want for me isn't what I want for my life?

I'm trusting that You'll help me with this God. I know You want me to be happy more than I do. Show me, step by step God, so I can grasp it all. And mostly, God, if what I want isn't what You want, then change my mind.

Thank You Lord, for being here to help me. Thank You for caring enough about me to show me what to do next.

I ask all things in Jesus' name.

AMEN!

Finding Inner Peace

. .. . . . . . . . . Put on some soothing music. Keep it soft and gentle. Take a few deep breaths, holding each one for a few seconds and then slowly exhaling. Relax. Feel the chair you're sitting on, your feet on the floor. Smell the scents in the room. Imagine Jesus coming toward you with a smile on his face. Tell him how you are feeling right now …sad, heartbroken , hurt, lost, confused, ashamed, trapped, oppressed, depressed, lonely, anxious, unfocused ( a biggie in today's society)....(and a true robber of peace ), abandoned, tormented, hopeless.. . Tell him exactly what things are like for you today even if your pain is deep. Open and pour out your heart to him. Feel his presence very close to you. Let his love fill your heart and soul. Thank him in advance for rescuing you out of your darkness, because that is what’s going to happen! He cares. HE...is your defense. Let go & let GOD work it all out for you.

Talitha Cumi......."Damsel Arise"

The Bible tells of a ruler in the synagogue, who's daughter was believed to be dead, they inquired of Jesus to come unto her, to save her, for her sickness appeared to be to the point of death. Before Jesus could get there, word came that she was dead, and to trouble Jesus no more with the matter. Jesus, hearing this, told the ruler,"Be not afraid...Only Believe"

I come into contact with many women who feel that their situation is to death. The hopelessness and despair that they feel, makes it hard for them to even breath, in cases like these, I am reminded of this very case in the Bible, how Jesus handled it, and the girl's state after her encounter with Jesus.

Jesus put the naysayers out of the room, and commenced to speak a word that gave life to that dead situation: "TALITHA CUMI"

Jesus told her to ARISE!!
And we must do the same.....Whether its our own messy situation, or someone else's:

YOU HAVE THE POWER TO SPEAK, NOT "A" WORD, BUT "THE" WORD over that dead situation.
